“Making Money Make Sense”

This 2 hour seminar will cover the basics of insurance and retirement planning with both MBT and AFBS and basic tax information with David Bacic. You will earn what you need to know in order to make an informed decision in your financial planning.
AFBS presentation by Judith Allan, Branch Manager
Judith will give general information about the insurance and registered savings plans and the basics on how AFBS is structured and how a member participates in the insurance & retirement plans.
BIO:
Judith Allan is celebrating her 35th anniversary with AFBS on January 28th. She was employed in the Accounting Department at the Toronto office until 2001 when she took the opportunity to come to Vancouver, as the AFBS representative for BC members. Having had the position of Accounting Manager for many years, Judith has knowledge of all aspects of AFBS operations. The Fraternal Society is a model financial institution, and working with the members we serve is a privilege.
MBT presentation by Bill Watt – Principal, Tina Coon – Consultant
Bill and Tina will cover basic information about the insurance and RSP plans offered by MBT and they will answer general insurance and retirement planning questions.
Bill is an accomplished pension and group benefits professional with over 30 years of industry experience. Bill advises and consults with clients and other professional advisors on the design and implementation of tax effective retirement and benefit plans. In addition to being a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and a Chartered Financial Consultant (CHFC), Bill is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and is a Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC).
Tina provides Case Leadership with every Aptus Benefits client. With over 13 years of benefit and retirement planning experience, Tina’s expertise lies in plan design, member communication and plan administration. Tina holds a Certificate in Employee Benefits Programs (CEB) and is a Certified Health Insurance Specialist (CHS).
David Bacic & Associates presentation by David Bacic
The presentation will cover the basics of tax filing for self-employed actors, what deductions can be written off and what documentation the government will require.
David Bacic, CGA has over 12 years’ experience in the accounting field working for a variety of businesses in a diverse range of industries. With each experience, he has developed his entrepreneurial skills to benefit the businesses he was involved with and helped their owners achieve success.
