General American with US Dialect Coach
D'Arcy Smith

 
D’Arcy Smith is a Professor of Voice, Speech, and Dialects at The University of Cincinnati. He was a resident voice, text and dialect coach at the Guthrie Theater and has worked as a teacher and voice/dialect coach in the United States, U.K., Canada, and New Zealand. He brings over 20 years of experience as a professional actor, coach, and teacher of performers, working on well over 100 productions along with Riot Games and Ubisoft. He has trained extensively in a variety of voice techniques to help serve every level and voice type.
 
Course Description

Get honest feedback and coaching on the dialect that US productions most often want to hear.

We will cover techniques to approaching the dialect in a physical and organic way, helping you to integrate it into the characters you create. The course will cover aspects of the placement, vocal quality, intonation patterns, rhythm, and key pronunciation changes. Participants will get individual feedback and a chance to practice their work in a safe and fun atmosphere.

 
This is a one (1) day ONLINE workshop

Beginner to Intermediate Level
Minimum of 2 professional credits required

Applicants must be aged 19+

Cost for members: FREE
The Education Committee is giving back to members during dues season as a way of recognizing the financial pressures members may be experiencing. All courses will be free until April 30, 2023.
Non member: $80.00
